PENSKE RACING’S KURT BUSCH DOMINATES PENNSYLVANIA 500

Brownsburg, Ind. - (August 7, 2007) Kurt Busch held the Budweiser Pole for
the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on Friday until Dale Earnhardt Jr.,
knocked him off, relegating him to a second place starting position. However,
Busch had the last laugh on Sunday when he pulled his Penske Racing No. 2
Miller Lite Dodge into Victory Lane.
Busch gave Roger Penske his 59th Nextel Cup win as a car owner after Busch
himself went 51 races without a win. Busch also became the 14th different
winner of the 2007 season.
Busch drove his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger to the front of the field on
seven different occasions, leading a total of 175 laps of the 200 lap race
on the 2.5 mile tri-oval. His win on Sunday moved him into the 12th
position, the last position in the Chase for the Championship.
His Penske Racing teammate Ryan Newman also had a great run at Pocono.
Newman started in the fourth position, right behind teammate Busch at the drop of
the green flag. Newman pulled to the front of the field once during the
race to lead for a total of one lap. Newman’s No. 12 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger team
did a great job throughout the day getting Newman in and out of the pits and
adjusting the car to Newman’s liking. Their consistency paid off and Newman
finished in the seventh position. Newman remains in the 14th place in the
point standings, only 90 points behind teammate Busch.
The No. 12 Mobil 1 Dodge team also were awarded the Checker’s/Rally’s
Double Drive-Thru Challenge Award. The award honors teams every race that spend
the least amount of time in the pits each race weekend. This was the team’s
second award this year.
Ringers’ supporter Todd Kluever piloted the No. 16 3M Ford Fusion on
Saturday during the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge at the Circuit Gilles
Villeneuve in Montreal. He was hoping to repeat his great run he produced at
Mexico City earlier in the year, but unfortunately didn’t have that feat.
Kluever qualified early on during Busch Series qualifying session and
started 31st in the field. Kluever, a veteran of oval short tracks, feels he takes
a little bit longer to adapt on the road courses. Nonetheless, he was still
able to bring his ride home in 21st position and out of trouble.
Both the Nextel Cup and Busch Series will travel to Watkins Glen, N.Y. for
their respective races on the 11 turn, 2.45-mile road course. The Craftsman
Truck Series returns to action after having a week off. Ringers’ teams South
Point Racing and Green Light Racing will vie for the Gibson guitar during the
Toyota Tundra 200 at the Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn.
Ringers Gloves racer Shane Stewart warmed up for the Super Clean Knoxville
Nationals this week by running in the Knoxville 360 Nationals last weekend.
Not only did Stewart run in it, but he also won and took home the $10,000
paycheck. Other Ringers’ supporting racers in the field were Jonathan Cornell,
winning the E Feature and made it as far as 13th in the C Feature. California
regular, Jonathan Allard, also warming up for the Super Clean Knoxville
Nationals this week. Allard started at the tail of the field in 24th and charged
his way to a 10th-place finish.
