Camping World to Back Marcos AmbroseIn Nextel Cup Debut
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.--Camping World, America's largest retailer of RV and outdoor supplies, accessories and recreational vehicle sales today announced that it will be the primary sponsor of the #77 Ford Fusion driven by BUSCH Series regular Marcos Ambrose of Australia in this weekend’s Nextel Cup race at Watkins Glen International.
Ambrose will drive a Ford Fusion owned and prepared by Robbie Gordon Motorsports. He and Gordon tangled in the late laps of last weekend’s BUSCH race in Montreal causing a series of events which led to one of the most unusual finishes in NASCAR history.
“Camping World and its 4000 employees were very disappointed with the turn of events during the inaugural NASCAR event in Montreal last weekend,” said Camping World Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis. “We share the same professional and personal values as NASCAR and are grateful for the opportunity to participate in a sport where sportsmanship is never compromised."
Lemonis continued, “Robbie approached us with the idea of entering a Nextel Cup car for Marcos and it felt right from the beginning. We admire Robbie’s sincere desire to give Marcos another chance at victory and are pleased to be able to support the opportunity with our sponsorship.”
Camping World’s sponsorship of the #77 Nextel Cup car is contingent on the approval of Gordon’s entry by NASCAR.
