Witmer Wins Second Late Model Feature of the Season at SSP; Alleman, Christine, Rehbein and Richcreek Also Find Their Way to Victory Lane

 

Newberrytown, PA (August 4, 2007) - At Stock Car Saturday Night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park,  Bud Witmer picked up his second win of the season in the 20-lap Late Model feature event.  Wes Alleman won the Street Stock main event and Smoke Christine returned to victory lane in the Xtreme Stock Cars.  Brian Rehbein won the XSC Rookie Rumble and Butch Richcreek, Jr. won the York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature.  The speedway also featured its first Picnic in the Pits which was a fun filled evening of games and opportunities for the kids to meet their favorite drivers.  All kids 12 and under had the opportunity to win one of the 146 bicycles donated by drivers and owners.

 

The 20-lap Late Model feature event began with Jeremy Knoll jumping out to the early lead for the first three laps.  On the fourth circuit, Bud Witmer took the lead and went on to pick up his second victory of the season.  Finishing a strong and close second was Richard Walls, who came from the ninth place starting position.  Sterling Kinard held off Carl Billet to finish third.  Steve Billet finished fifth.  Gary Potts, Chucking Yingling, Randy Christine, Jr., Bob Scott, Jr., and Scott Richwine rounded out the top ten.

 

The 20-lap Street Stock feature event had Kevin Sigler lead the first 16 laps and relinquished the lead to Scott Thunberg on the 17th lap.  On the next circuit, a seven car battle for the lead found a few cars crashing with George Eash suffering the worst end by going part way through the turn three guardrails.  Sigler and Thunberg were also involved.  This gave the lead to Wes Alleman who went on to record his first SSP win of the season.  Todd Bowersox finished second, followed by Eric Walker, Brian Hauenstein and Steven Dove.  Craig Morgan, Joe Whiteley, Chad Smith, Dave Thompson, Jr. and Scott Thunberg completed the top ten.

 

In the always exciting 30-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature, Smoke Christine also picked up his second win of the season by leading the final 16 laps of the feature event.  Early leader, Chris Heller finished second with SSP point leader Mike Goodwin finishing third.  Sam Rial and Travis Horan rounded out the top five.  Finishing sixth through tenth was Adam Smith, Rich Lomman, Raymond Repp, Tim Hahn and Bill Beck.  

 

Brian Rehbein for the second week in a row won the 15-lap XSC Rookie Rumble.  Adam Doll finished second, followed by Daryl Sipe in third.  Renee Luckenbaugh and Chris Anderson rounded out the top five.

 

In the 10-lap York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature event, Butch Richcreek was victorious over Daryl Sipe and Jeff Svendsen.  John Durussel and Mike Taft rounded out the top five.

 

Stephanie Hetrick from Palmyra took the ride of her life as she was the winner for the Superior Home Race Car Ride-Along with Ray Broderick.  He received a few laps in the passenger seat of Ray's Xtreme Stock Car.  Every week one ticket will be drawn from the adult general admission tickets to win a ride for the week after.  This week's winner for the ride-along on Saturday, August 11 is to be announced.  

 

Tomorrow night, Sunday, August 5 racing returns with Camera & Autograph Night for the ARDC Midgets, Four Cylinder Stock Cars, Legends Cars and Penn Mar Vintage Cars.  All fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars on the frontstretch before the feature events begin.

 

On Sunday night, the pit gates will open 3:30 p.m.  Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m.  Warmups begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.    

 

Then on Saturday, August 11, Stock Car Saturday Night returns with the Camera & Autograph Night featuring the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stocks, Classic Cars, W.O.W. "Women on Wheels" Stock Cars and Speedway Auto Sales Mini Vans.  

 

On Saturday night, the pit gates will open for pit pass sales at 4:30 p.m.  Drivers, crews and haulers may enter at 3:00 p.m. for the SSP Picnic in the Pits.  Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m.  Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.    

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for both Saturday and Sunday nights will be Adults and Teens (13 & older) $12.00; Children (12 & under) are free.  Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all pit competitor license holders.    The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.  

There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week's events completed only.  Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes.  Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions.  The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

 

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
