AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch: Consumers Continue to See Lower Prices at the Pump

IRVING, TX Aug 3, 2007; Texans continue to see a decline in gas prices as the average for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline fell six and a half cents to $2.79, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. Prices are also lower across the country this week as the national average for a gallon of gasoline fell seven cents to $2.865.
Dropping more than 14 cents from last week, Amarillo saw the largest dip in prices, but continues to post the highest average weekly retail price in the Lone Star State at $2.92 a gallon. For the third week in a row Corpus Christi had the lowest weekly average in the survey at $2.63 a gallon -- down more than 9 cents from last week.

"If you own more than one car -- especially if one of your vehicles is less fuel-efficient such as a pickup truck, sport utility vehicle or van -- use the more energy conserving vehicle as often as possible, " says AAA Texas spokesperson Paul Flaningan.
