Brady Named Chief Operating Officer at Gibbs Sports Amphibians
ATLANTA, July 30 -- Mark Brady has been named chief operating officer (COO) for Gibbs Sports Amphibians, according to Alan Gibbs, founder and chairman of Gibbs Technologies, Ltd.
A former COO at Triumph Motorcycles America, Brady will work from temporary offices in Atlanta, Ga., until Gibbs Sports Amphibians selects locations for its headquarters and manufacturing facilities. Prior to joining Gibbs, Brady was COO of Sabertooth Motorcycles, a manufacturer of custom motorcycles located in Greer, South Carolina.
The Gibbs Quadski, an amphibious all-terrain vehicle, is planned for public introduction by Gibbs Sports Amphibians during the first quarter of 2009. Gibbs Technologies currently is recruiting senior management for three new companies to produce and market a broad range of amphibious vehicles, including the Quadski, in the United States.
A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Brady began his business career at Lucas Hartridge, Ltd., a manufacturer of diesel-pump test equipment located in Buckingham, U.K., where he served as a production engineer and senior buyer.
He joined Triumph Motorcycles, Ltd. in the U.K. in 1991 as a senior buyer and two years later became the company's purchasing manager. He was named COO and general manager of Triumph Motorcycles America in Newnan, Ga., in 2000, and moved to Sabertooth Motorcycles in 2006.
Brady attended Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and holds a Higher National Certificate and an Ordinary National Certificate in production engineering from the British Technical Education Council. He is married and lives in Atlanta.
In addition to the Quadski, Gibbs plans to introduce an amphibious vehicle that combines the handling of a sports car with an ability to reach speeds of 110 mph on land and more than 30 mph on water. Called Aquada, it will be built by Gibbs Amphibians. A third company, Gibbs Military Amphibians, will develop high-speed amphibians for military use under an agreement with Lockheed Martin .
The three companies are considering locations for a technical center in the Great Lakes region, as well as locations for manufacturing plants in several states, including Georgia, Virginia, Michigan and Texas.
Gibbs Technologies is headquartered in Nuneaton near Coventry in the UK, where it has research and development facilities, a prototype manufacturing plant, as well as styling, engineering and marine-test facilities.
