Miles Electric Vehicles Debuts Zero Emissions All-Electric Truck at FedFleet Expo in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla.--Miles Electric Vehicles, maker of an advanced line of low-speed all-electric cars and trucks, will debut its new zero emissions, all-electric ZX40ST truck today at the FedFleet Exposition in Orlando, July 24-26. The new open-air work truck will be the most powerful all-electric truck on the market and cost a fraction to drive and maintain compared to a gas-powered vehicle. A prototype chassis of the ZX40ST will be on display at the FedFleet Expo, where Miles Electric Vehicles representatives will be taking pre-orders in advance of the truck’s planned October ’07 delivery.
“It’s a perfect low-speed light-duty work truck for fleets looking to cut costs and emissions,” said Miles Electric Vehicles Co-Founder David Hirsch. “Several of our fleet customers have asked us to provide a truck model, and now we’re pleased to offer a product that meets our high standards for safety, quality and performance.” Current Miles Electric Vehicles fleet customers include NASA, the U.S. Navy and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, in addition to Stanford, UCLA, California State Polytechnic University, and many other organizations.
Unmatched safety and power
Like Miles’ ZX40 and ZX40S low-speed cars, the sturdy steel-frame ZX40ST truck provides safety that far exceeds DOT requirements for low-speed vehicles. Powered by a 72-volt battery system, the truck also provides superior power and driving distance compared to current all-electric low-speed truck options, providing 60-70 miles per charge and well over 500 pounds of cargo capacity.
Cut emissions and costs
The ZX40ST offers dramatic efficiencies versus gas-powered trucks. With 90% fewer moving parts, they generally require 90% less maintenance. Factoring in the low cost of electricity vs. gas (which enables the ZX40ST to drive more than 125 miles on $3.00 worth of electricity), a typical organization will save $15,000-$18,000 in lifetime fuel costs for each gas-powered fleet vehicle it replaces with the ZX40ST.1 And for each gas-powered truck that’s retired in favor of a ZX40ST, organizations can reduce their overall fleet tailpipe emissions by more than 12,000 pounds per year.
“When you factor in the cost savings and emissions reductions, this is a very compelling option for a wide range of fleet users, particularly government organizations under pressure to reduce their carbon footprints,” added Hirsch. “Of course, it’s also a great way to make a statement – with fleet vehicles that essentially serve as ‘rolling billboards’ advertising your green leadership.”
Hirsch adds that another ZX40ST advantage is Miles’ industry-leading customer support infrastructure. Miles Electric Vehicles fleet customers receive overnight parts delivery, certified service training and materials (through a partnership with the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium), dedicated service through a rapidly growing nationwide dealer network, and full warranty protection for 18 months.
