THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY FOR DIXON AND TARGET TEAM AT MID-OHIO

Lexington, Ohio (July 22, 2007)- Target Chip Ganassi Racing and driver Scott Dixon earned their third straight victory with a win at the inaugural Honda 200 event on the road circuit at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and gained valuable ground in the Championship points standings.

Following back-to-back first place results at both Watkins Glen International and Nashville Superspeedway,

Dixon’s win at Mid-Ohio ties a series record with his third consecutive victory. It is the Target team’s first three-in-a-row since Juan Pablo Montoya did it in 1999 (Mid-Ohio, Chicago, Vancouver) and their first in the IndyCar Series. The Target team now has 15 victories in the IndyCar Series, 55 total wins and also reached a milestone of 601 race starts since 1990 this weekend. (CART & IndyCar)

Dixon led four times for a total of 29 laps, taking the lead for the final sprint to the checkered flag by coming out of the pits just in front of points leader Dario Franchitti. Helio Castroneves finished third and earned the three bonus points for most laps led while Dixon (450 points) cut Franchtti’s (474 points) lead in the championship to 24 points from 65 just 3 weeks ago. Target teammate Dan Wheldon (357 points) finished ninth from his 11th place starting position, putting him fourth in the Championship, six points behind Tony Kanaan (363) who finished in fourth in the race.

The Target team has a very rare weekend off before heading to Michigan International Speedway for the Firestone Indy 400 on Sunday, August 5, 2007.

TARGET CHIP GANASSI RACING QUOTEBOARD:

Scott Dixon: “I was a little frustrated after the second or third stop when Helio (Castroneves) jumped us. We soon found out why, he just didn't put in as much fuel as we did. The guys in the pits have been fantastic throughout the season. They've really made my races a lot easier. It was a tough race. The first stint was about saving fuel. I could tell Helio was doing it. We just saved a little bit more to do an extra lap. The second or third stint was so flat out I couldn't believe it. It was like qualifying every lap just trying to hang on. It was a tough day but a great day for the championship." (About three wins in a row and closing in on the points lead): "It's been fantastic. We're just trying to close in. That's the problem with Dario (Franchitti), he's just so consistent. When we're winning, he's in the top three. It would have been nice if he would have had a fourth of fifth today and we could have really closed in. We're closing in on this championship. We've got five races to go now, and we'll see what we can do." (About a salute from the fans at the end): "That was fantastic. I couldn't believe the amount of people here today. The hills were just packed with people. It was great to see. Even on my pace lap before the race even started, I got on the radio and said, 'You guys should be on the back here and Turn 4. I couldn't believe how many people were here."

Dan Wheldon: “The race was pretty average for me but I think the car certainly was much better than what the finishing position reflected but unfortunately we just couldn’t seem to get a break with a clean piece of real estate. It was unfortunate for the Target Chip Ganassi racing 10 side wasn’t such a good result but it was great to see Scott (Dixon) win today for the team and close the gap on Dario (Franchitti) in the Championship.”
