June Sales Rise in China's Booming Commercial Vehicle Market

SHANGHAI - July 20, 2007: Sales of commercial and passenger vehicles in China witnessed another big rise in June, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. It is forecasted that sales and output for the full year will reach a record of 8.5 million units.

Production of all types of vehicles during this month totaled 736,100 units, an increase of 3.59 % month-to-month compared to last year, and a 27.82% gain year-to-year. Meanwhile, sales topped 726,900 units, an increase of 1.82% month-to-month, 30% year-to-year.

Comparing the segments, the passenger vehicles have outperformed the commercial vehicles. Although both segments gained around thirty percent compared with last year, yet on a month-to-month basis, production and sales of the commercial vehicles has decreased by 7.07% and 4.64% respectively.

The top 10 commercial vehicle manufacturers in China are---Beiqi Foton, Dongfeng, FAW (First Auto Work ), Changan Auto, JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Co.), SinoTruck, Jingbei Motor, JMC (Jiangling Motors Co.), NAC (Nanjing Automobile Cooperation) and Shanxi Automobile.

Combining commercial and passenger cars, the top performing automakers in June are, in the following order, SAIC (Shanghai Auto), FAW, Dongfeng, Changan, BAW (Beijing Automobile Works), Guangzhou Automobile, Chery, Brilliance and Geely and Hafei. The ten largest automakers sold a total of 604,600 units, covering 83.18 percent of the market share.
