Coughlin brothers looking for another double (NHRA/JEGS)

Coughlin brothers looking for another double

MADISON, ILL. (July 13) – Coming off their most successful race of the
season, brothers John and Mike Coughlin will look to continue their winning ways
as they head for this weekend’s NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Racing Series contest
at Gateway Int’l Raceway. At a recent Division 3 event in Joliet, Ill., John
won the Top Dragster title and Mike was crowned the champion in the Top
Sportsman class. Having both JEGS Mail Order entries parked side-by-side in the
winner’s circle is a thrill the Coughlin’s won’t soon forget.

“Having my brother and I win a race on the same day is definitely the
highlight of our season so far,?? said Mike. “It’s difficult to put one car in the
winner’s circle and to have two wins is almost too much to ask for. We’ve
got a tough act to follow, but if everything goes just right, we can make it
happen.??

As a result of their early season success, both Coughlin brothers are
challenging for the season championship in their respective eliminators. John
currently leads the Top Dragster standings and Mike is ranked second in Top
Sportsman.

“I know that Mike and I are both doing well in the points, but we’re trying
not to think too much about it right now,?? said John. “We just want to
concentrate on winning some rounds this weekend. If we can do that, the points
will take care of themselves. There is a still a long way to go this season,
but I certainly like the way it has started.??

Actually, the Coughlins will be seeking a triple victory celebration as John
will also be competing in Super Stock with his B&B Race Cars-built ’08 Chevy
Cobalt. He has had prior success at Gateway Int’l Raceway, which is located
just across the Mississippi river from St. Louis, having won the Pro Stock
Truck title there in 2000.

Qualifying for the Division 3 Lucas Oil Series event will begin on Friday,
July 13 and continue through Saturday, July 14. Final eliminations will be held
 on Sunday, July 15.
