Siemens Reveals Driving Gadgets of the Future
Washington DC July 12, 2007; The AIADA newsletter reported that night-vision cameras, collision avoidance systems, and a roving Internet connection could all be part of your next car, according to experts at Siemens VDO.
The German company held its annual Electronics University this week to give journalists and industry insiders a look at what the gadgets, safety devices, and communication systems could look like in the cars of tomorrow.
The Detroit News report said that consumers will one day see more active safety systems, music players, and all the other electronic devices that drivers are toting with them these days.
What drew the most attention from participants was a night-vision system that projects a hologram-like image on the lower part of a driver's windshield that shows objects along the roadside and makes things beyond a headlight's reach more visible.
"We have an aging population, and with that comes declining vision," Siemens spokesman Brad Warner said. "This technology addresses that trend."
