Buescher Impressive Again; Nets Top-Five At Berlin

Buescher Impressive Again; Nets Top-Five At Berlin

“17 Year Old Collects Third Top-10 In Track Debut??

MARNE, Michigan (July 9, 2007) - - ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie James Buescher
once again showed that he has the natural ability to compete in one of the
most diverse racing sanctions in the United States after the 17-year old
phenomenon showed maturity and patience to collect a third place finish in Saturday’
s Request Foods-GFS 200 at Berlin Raceway.
In his third attempt with Country Joe Racing (CJR), Buescher eyed his second
victory of the season after wowing the field with a stunning win at USA
International Speedway (Lakeland) in March. While Buescher’s didn’t net a
victory, his run earned him his second top-five finish in three races.
While Buescher had never seen the .4-mile facility before Saturday’s
practice, you would know have known it. During the hour and a half session leading
up to the rest of the day’s festivities, the Country Joe Racing driver bolted
to the third quickest lap of the session maneuvering a time of 18.096 seconds
at 87.135 MPH.
“The car is real good, offered Buescher. “I can’t say enough about this
Country Joe Racing team. They have good equipment every time I climb into a
racecar and this weekend is no different. We’re going to make a few minor
adjustments hoping to grab our first pole of the season.??
In ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying, Buescher maneuvered the Mercedes
Homes-Red Line Oil Dodge around the Marne, Michigan based track in 18.035 seconds
equaling a speed of 87.430 MPH lining him up 12th on the grid.
“We were loose,?? explained Buescher. “The car is still pretty good, just
couldn’t get around the track as easily as I did in practice. We’re starting
near the front so that’s a good thing; we just have to keep ourselves out of
trouble.??
During the course of the 200-lap event, Buescher showed no mercy.
Vowing to give 150 percent during his inaugural run at Berlin Raceway, the
driver patiently and quickly worked his way into the top-10 early in the event
and never had to look back.
In a race that saw massive green flag runs, Buescher would maneuver past
current ARCA RE/MAX Series contenders Frank Kimmel, Bobby Gerhart, Justin
Allgaier to eventually finish third behind race winner Brian Keselowski and ARCA
full timer Michael McDowell.
“We had a good day,?? said Buescher after the event. “The car was steady all
night long. We were quiet tonight, but we definitely had a top-five car. I
want to thank the Country Joe Racing team again for this opportunity. It’s a
shame that we couldn’t get another win, but I’ll take a top-five for my first
trip to this place.??
Nate Thiesse, Director of Operations for Country Joe Racing stated, “We are
very pleased with the performance of the team this weekend. James shows
consistency and determination every time he climbs behind the wheel of one of our
racecars. That is why he excels so much. He did a great job for us again this
weekend and we’re hoping to put him in another race in the near future.
Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a return to Kentucky Speedway for the
running of the WLWT Channel 5-150 under the lights this Friday night.
