MIDGETS NOW GEAR UP FOR NEBRASKA-KANSAS TOUR;

CLAUSON, DARLAND SCORE TOLEDO, MANSFIELD VICTORIES

            Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif. has a 68-point lead over defending series champion Jerry Coons Jr. in the new USAC National Midget standings as the series gets ready for late-July events at McCool Junction, Neb. And Belleville, Kans.

            Hagen finished fourth and seventh in races Friday and Saturday at Toledo and Mansfield, Ohio. Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, Ind. won Friday's "Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness Night" 30-lapper at Toledo and Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. won Saturday's 30-lapper at Mansfield Motorsports Park.

            Clauson led all 30 laps at Toledo in his Advanced Racing/Fontana Beast to beat Darland, Kevin Swindell, Hagen and Stephanie Mockler. Mockler came back to post the fastest qualifying time Saturday at Mansfield but failed to finish the 30-lap feature.

            Darland led all 30 laps at Mansfield in his Toyota Oakley/Performance Racing Industry Beast/Pink Ford. Bobby East finished second ahead of Bradley Galedrige, Chuck Gurney Jr. and Clauson.

            Coons, a former champion of the "Belleville Midget Nationals" which will unfold at the Kansas oval July 27-28, was unable to crack the "top-10" in Ohio but looks forward to the four dirt-track races at the end of the month.
