UMRA TQ MIDGETS
FRIDAY - JULY 13
O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds
Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks
BLOOMINGTON, IN (July 1, 2007) - Bloomington Speedway will host another night of exciting racing action on Friday, July 13. The evening's racing will feature UMRA TQ Midgets, O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds, and Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks.
The UMRA TQ Midget series is one of the most competitive racing series in the nation. It is, in fact, the series in which Tony Stewart began to be noticed as the talented driver that he has proven himself to be. Some of its competitors are seasoned veterans who have raced the TQ's for decades. These guys love the cars and love the tough competition that they find in them every time they unload. There are also rookie drivers who are racing the TQ's as a step toward racing a sprint car, a stock car, or even an Indy Car. Whatever their long-term goals may be, their immediate goals are all the same - reaching the checkered flag before their fellows. Watching them race for their goal is what makes this series so popular wherever they race.
As is usually the case, Terry Goff leads the UMRA points. For many years Ron Ambrose of Henderson, Ky. was the undisputed king of UMRA. If Ambrose still has the records, they are almost certainly in danger. Kenny Byrge is in second place in the points. Byrge is fortunate to drive the Larry Teegarden owned TQ. In the past Teegarden hasn't fielded a TQ on a regular basis; but it was always a threat to win when it rolled off of the trailer. Oogie Goff, Scott Petry, Chad Hankins, Ron Combs (driving the Tony Stewart owned TQ), Tim Lynch, Jason Vest, Derek Fisher, and Tate Martz make up the balance of the top ten.
Bloomington Speedway is one of the longest tracks on which UMRA competes; and it will almost certainly be as well prepared as any they've ever seen. They can be expected to rise to the occasion.
Of course the O'Neal Wood Products modifieds and Tire & Wheel Center super stocks will also be in competition. Shelby Miles currently leads the modified points; and he has five feature wins to his credit. However, there are still several races left this season; and there are a number of great modified drivers are intent on winning the championship themselves.
Jeremy Hines of Seymour leads the Tire & Wheel Center super stock points; and he is making a strong run at his second consecutive super stock championship.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $12 for this event (children 12 and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult.); and pit admission is $25. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IT'S INDIANA SPRINT WEEK XX!!!
JULY 20, 2007
CAN THE USAC REGULARS STANBROUGH, BRISCOE, AND GAINES?
(Bloomington, Ind. - July 8, 2007) Major sporting events are a lot like fine wine. It takes a while for them to mature. Indiana Sprint Week is set for its 20th running; and Bloomington Speedway has been an integral part of the series each year.
Bloomington Speedway's leg of Indiana Sprint Week will be run on July 20.
Because of the unusually careful track preparation at Bloomington, it is a favored stop for most of the series competitors. They know that, if they have done their job, they can win at Bloomington Speedway. A good heavy track will allow a well-prepared car to come from the back of the pack to victory.
Jon Stanbrough has four sprint car feature wins this season at Bloomington Speedway; and he has numerous feature wins at other tracks. Dave Darland, Jeff Bland, Jr., Cole Whitt, Bobby Stines, and Dickie Gaines each have one feature win; and they all are more than ready to score their second.
Jeff Bland, Jr. holds a narrow eight point lead over Danny Holtsclaw in the Safety - Kleen sprint car points standings. Jon Sciscoe is third in the points followed by Bobby Stines, Chad Boat, Cole Whitt, Ty Deckard, Chris Babcock, Brady Short, and Dakoda Armstrong. These drivers all know their way around Mike Miles' red clay oval and are capable of turning in a good finish each Friday.
Our drivers have the home field advantage; however, Indiana Sprint Week brings out the best drivers from everywhere. USAC sprint car racing has become the training ground for the major leagues of auto racing; and teams like Tony Stewart Racing, Kasey Kahne Racing, Keith Kunz Motorsports, etc. spend a lot of money developing these drivers. They will all be here trying to outrun our regular drivers on their turf. Jon Stanbrough is the wild card with good USAC performance and lots of laps at Bloomington Speedway. It is certain that the competition for the win on the red clay will be fierce.
There is one thing that sprint week always means - full pits. Last year, a total of 59 sprinters qualified; and they were the best sprint cars in nation. In addition their will, no doubt, be plenty of O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds on hand as they will be running for $600 to win with proper decals.
Grandstand admission for this special race is only $20 and pit admission is $30. As always at Bloomington Speedway, children 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers are strictly prohibited. Parking and overnight camping are both free. There are no advanced ticket sales or reserved seating. Pits gates will open at 4:30; and the grandstands will open at 5:30. Hot laps will begin at 6:30.
