NHRA - Troxel Defeated in First Round

BRISTOL, Tenn. (July 8) – The Vietnam Veterans POW/MIA dragster team driven by accomplished three-time Top Fuel winner, Melanie Troxel was defeated in the first round of eliminations at the seventh annual O’Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at the famed Bristol Dragway racing Larry Dixon.

She moved first off the starting line first with a huge advantage with her great reaction time (.038 - .092), but lost to Dixon’s quicker time of 4.604 seconds, to her time of 4.715 seconds, 308.14 mph. The margin of victory was .057 of a second.

The NHRA POWERade Top Fuel points standings finds Troxel still in envied eight of the Countdown to the Championship, which will start in six races on Labor Day weekend at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

Troxel heads cross-country to her hometown track next weekend for the running of the 28th annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Denver, Colorado. www.torcoracefuels.com
