Plenty of Activities Planned for

Infineon Cougar Mountain Classic

 

SONOMA, Calif. (July 3, 2007) - The Cougar Mountain Classic will feature
professional and amateur racing divisions in a variety of cycling
disciplines at Infineon Raceway, July 6-8, including SuperD, cross
country, mountain bike downhill, road criterium and road circuit. Each
discipline will feature both men's and women's professional categories.


 

There will be plenty for fans to enjoy in addition to the cycling action
during the event weekend.  From a charity ride to the Tour de France
Lounge, there's sure to be something for everyone:

 


Whole Foods Tour de France Lounge


Infineon Raceway will bring a slice of France to the Sonoma Valley with
the Whole Foods Tour de France Lounge, which will be located in the main
paddock and open to the public (free). The lounge will showcase the Tour
de France on several television sets, and will also feature couches,
chairs and provide a place to relax. Smoothies, coffee and sandwiches
provided by Whole Foods will be available for purchase.


 


Xtreme Karting


Check out Xtreme Karting in Turn 11, where fans can enjoy four-minute
go-kart rides for $15 or four rides for $50.  All go-karts will be
provided by the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School.  Karting will run on
Saturday from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. and on Sunday from noon-5 p.m. All proceeds
from Xtreme Karting will benefit Speedway Children's Charities, the
charitable arm of Infineon Raceway. 


 


Cycle Links Charity Ride


Fans are invited to ride the road course during the Cycle Links Charity
Ride on Saturday, July 7 (11 a.m.). Teams of up to 10 people and
individuals will be able to ride the world-famous road course, with
prizes given for most laps completed throughout the hour and most funds
raised. Riders can sign-up for the Cycle Links Charity Ride for $15
(individual) or $200 (team of 10). All proceeds from the Charity Ride
benefit Valley of the Moon Teen Center in Sonoma through Speedway
Children's Charities.

 

Supercuts Vintage Bicycle Concourse

Cycling enthusiasts will enjoy the Supercuts vintage bicycle concourse
throughout the weekend. Located in the Driver's Lounge, the concourse
will feature the Brad Wahl Collection from American Cyclery in San
Francisco. He will be presenting his fine collection of fat tire,
mountain, road and unusual bikes dating back to the 1950s. Expect to see
names like Legnano, Confente, Masi, Olmo, Cinelli, Coppis, Fisher,
Specialized, Schwinn and others.

 


Trips for Kids Annual Bike Swap


Trips for Kids will hold its annual bike swap on Saturday and Sunday of
the Infineon Cougar Mountain Classic. Much anticipated by cycling
enthusiasts, bargain shoppers and collectors, this year's event will
feature hundreds of adult and children's bicycles.


 

Nemesis Project Frame Building

Be sure to check out the Nemisis Project booth to see the craft of tig
welding and witness a frame come to life over the weekend.  They will be
building frames on-site so take advantage of this rare opportunity for a
sneak peak into the frame building world.

 

In Addition

In addition to the events listed above, the weekend will also feature
pixie races, huffy tosses, bike sumo and a kids bike rodeo on Sunday.
You can drop off your bike at the bike corral, which will serve as a
bike valet throughout the weekend.
