Volkswagen Helps Drive Hunger Out of New Hampshire

- New Hampshire Food Bank will receive $2 for every Volkswagen test drive

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 3 -- Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today that all New Hampshire Volkswagen dealers will donate $2 to the New Hampshire Food Bank for every test drive of a new car between July 2007 and November 30, 2007.

"These donations are a wonderful step forward in the fight against hunger, we encourage everyone to get involved," said Matthew Phillips, Volkswagen eastern region sales operation manager. "Visit your nearest Volkswagen dealership and test drive one of our new vehicles today and we'll help you do your part in the fight against hunger."

New Hampshire Food Bank's current approach to ending hunger includes developing programs to help educate their member agencies, rolling out a Mobile Food Pantry, and expanding their Operation Frontline program. Each year the food bank distributes over 4 million pounds of donated, surplus food to nearly 350 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers, senior citizen homes and substance abuse treatment centers. These member agencies then provide the food to over 95,000 hungry people throughout New Hampshire.

"Every night roughly 95,000 people go to bed hungry in the state of New Hampshire, this is equivalent to the entire city of Nashua going without proper food or nutrition," said Melanie Gosselin, executive director at the New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities. "We're proud to partner with Volkswagen to help fight against hunger in New Hampshire."

Participating dealers include Beranger Volkswagen in Rochester, Lakes Region in Gilford, Noyes Volkswagen in Keene, Manchester Volkswagen in Manchester, Miller Volkswagen in Lebanon, Seacoast Volkswagen in Greenland and Tulley Volkswagen in Nashua.
