American Tire Distributors Acquires Martino Tire Wholesale Distribution Centers

CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 3, 2007 -- American Tire Distributors, Inc. ("American Tire Distributors") announced today that it has reached an agreement to acquire the wholesale distribution centers of Martino Tire ("Martino Tire"). This will further enhance American Tire Distributors' service to tire retailers across the state of Florida.

Martino Tire operated five wholesale distribution centers, 27 retail stores and two commercial centers. American Tire Distributors' purchase only includes the five distribution centers. This approach maintains American Tire Distributors' commitment to operate no retail locations, so as not to compete with the independent tire dealer. The five acquired distribution centers are located in Miami, Pompano, Ft. Myers, Tampa, and Daytona. These distribution centers currently service over 3,000 customers in Florida.

"Florida is a very important market for us and this acquisition is another ATD commitment to enhance our support to dealers across the state," said Richard P. "Dick" Johnson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Tire Distributors. "The Martino Tire wholesale distribution operation, including its strong team of people, will be an excellent complement to our current distribution center network in Florida," Mr. Johnson added.

Martino Tire was founded by Sal and Andy Martino in 1959 in Miami. The company began as a retail operation, but expanded into wholesale distribution over time. By 1996, Martino Tire operated six wholesale distribution centers across Florida. Martino closed the Tallahassee operation in 2006, reducing to five the number of centers currently operating in the state.
