Comfort and Ease of Use for a Relaxing Interior with Superior Equipment
Seat Structure
• The third seats offer the world's first "one-touch extra space" function
that lifts the seats up and folds them away with a single touch.
• The second row seats are long-slide multi-use rotating seats with a child seat mode.
The seats rotate toward the exterior (60 degrees on the passenger seat side
and 30 degrees on the driver's seat side) and feature a design that
facilitates the buckling and unbuckling of young children into child
restraint systems. The second row seats can slide backward and forward a
total of 470mm.
• The middle seat of the second row seats folds up to create
a walkthrough from the front seats to the third row seats.
• Vehicles with
two rows of seats (Voxy Trans-X and Noah YY) provide plenty of cargo space.
The space can be arranged to suit almost any need through various
combinations of the three deck boards.
Package
• The package provides a body size that affords excellent handling and a
comfortable interior.
• The distance between the ground and the surface of
the front seat has been reduced and low steps and handgrips have been added
to facilitate boarding and exiting.
• Additional handgrips have been adopted
to make children's boarding and exiting easy.
• Visibility has been enhanced by attaching the side mirrors to the door panels and making the pillars
slimmer.
Convenient and Advanced Features
• The automatic air conditioner features independent temperature controls
for the driver's side and passenger's side, as well as a clean-air filter
with a pollen-removal mode.
• A mirror for viewing the rear seats enhances
communication among passengers.
• An Intelligent Parking Assist system
supports steering when parallel parking and backing into a parking space.
• "Panoramic Super-live Sound System" features speakers with a new structure
that uses the roof panel as a diaphragm, producing a dramatic expansion of
the sound field.
• The Smart Entry & Start System employs a key that does not
need to be removed from the driver's pocket to lock and unlock the doors,
as well as a push button for starting the engine.
• The HDD navigation system
(compatible with G-Book mX and G-Book mX Pro telematics services) is
equipped with advanced navigation features, including "Maps on Demand" for
updating the navigation system maps with the latest information as well as
a variety of multimedia functions.
Interior
• The instrument panel, with its three-layer structure, and the modern
center console, which appears to be floating, create a sense of innovation
and expansiveness. The Optitron meters designed for visibility, driving
status indicator and gate-type shifter located in the center console embody
both advanced design and functionality.
New Powertrain Achieves Superior Driving and Environmental
Performance
• The newly developed 2.0-liter 3ZR-FAE and 3ZR-FE engines employ Dual
VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) that optimizes both intake
and exhaust valve timing. The 3ZR-FAE engine is also combined with a
Valvematic continuously variable valve lift structure that continuously
controls the intake valve lift volume and valve opening and closing timing
for optimal performance in all speed ranges. The result is low CO2
emissions, fuel efficiency at the top levels of its class*, power for rapid
acceleration and enhanced acceleration responsiveness.
• All vehicles are
equipped with the Super CVT-i (Super Continuously Variable
Transmission-intelligent), and models with the 2.0-liter engine with
Valvematic feature a highly responsive, seven-speed Sports Sequential
Shiftmatic transmission with a paddle shift-type shift lever for the feel
of a manual transmission.
• The electric power steering smoothly varies the
amount of steering assistance to provide optimum steering control according
to vehicle speed.
• The highly rigid body together with optimal tuning of the
suspension provide excellent handling and cruising stability as well as a
comfortable ride.
* Compared to vehicles of similar engine displacement
Class Leading Environmental and Safety Performance
• The new vehicles boast a fuel efficiency of 14.2km/l1 in the 10-15 test
cycle outlined by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and
Transport with CO2 emissions under the test cycle just 164g/km. In
addition, fuel efficiency is at least 20% greater than the level called for
by the Japanese 2010 standards2. Both NOx (nitrogen oxides) and NMHC
(non-methane hydrocarbons) have also been cut, achieving emissions levels
75% lower than the 2005 standards under the Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure and Transport's Approval System for Low-emission Vehicles.
These achievements mean the vehicles qualify for incentives under the
Japanese government's Green Taxation System.
• Eco-VAS (Eco-Vehicle
Assessment System) — Toyota's original comprehensive environmental
impact assessment system — was implemented to efficiently achieve
overall reduction of environmental impact throughout the vehicle's entire
lifecycle. Environmental targets were set in the initial vehicle
development stage and a life cycle assessment was carried out to achieve a
reduction of things such as air contaminants and CO2 throughout all stages
of the vehicle's life from production and use to disposal.
• A review of the
materials, processing methods and adhesives used for interior parts
resulted in a reduction in the amount of VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
used, thereby also reducing the discomforting odors emitted from such
compounds.
• An Eco Driving Indicator lights up when the vehicle is being
efficiently operated to raise the driver's awareness of environmentally
considerate driving and contribute to higher fuel efficiency.
• The new vehicles adopt an advanced GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment)
collision-safety body that has been further developed to meet stricter than
normal conditions by incorporating the concept of omni-directional
compatibility. Through the use of a body that effectively absorbs collision
impact by diffusing it throughout its structure, Toyota satisfied all
independent targets for survival space and occupant injury.
• The pedestrian-injury-lessening body structure has been developed to further
reduce pedestrian head injuries in an effort to achieve one of the highest
levels of injury prevention in its class.
• The front-seat structures are
based on the WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) concept and come with stronger
seat frames and greater backrest give. They were designed based on analyses
using THUMS (Total Human Model for Safety), incorporating a structural
design that reduces stress on the neck during low-speed rear impact.
