WHEN: Tuesday, June 26, 2007
9:15 a.m. - Starting gun
Instructed to "start your engines, if you can," 100 students
clad in red and black "pit crew" uniforms will run to their
assigned, identically bugged 2007 Ford Fusions.
9:15 - 10:45 a.m. - Competition
The fastest time to diagnose, repair, and drive their car
across the finish line combined with the best written score
determines the 2007 champion team.
10:45 - 11:30 a.m. - Judging
11:30 - 12:00 Noon - Top 10 Winning Teams and Trophy
Presentations
WHERE: Ford World Headquarters, Dearborn, Michigan

Free parking and refreshments on site. Video feed and photos
available after competition. Opportunities for interviews
with student competitors and officials. Check in at Media
Tent, off American Road.
WHY: Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills showcases the nation's best
young technicians and encourages them to continue their
education and pursue careers in the industry. The Bureau of
Labor Statistics estimates the auto industry will have an
average of 34,000 job openings per year through 2014, based
on growth and net replacement needs. The top ten winning
teams receive scholarships to help further their education
and training as auto technicians and engineers, with the
potential for substantial incomes. More than 7,500 students
from all 50 states vied for the chance to be in the final
competition.
