Intermet Names Eric Showalter to Head Combined Group

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 20 -- Intermet Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of cast-metal automotive components, today announced that Eric Showalter has been appointed as the Group President of newly formed Intermet Die Cast group. In this role Mr. Showalter will have full responsibility for all of Intermet's Die Cast operations. Jeff Mihalic, President and Chief Executive Officer, Intermet Corporation stated that, "Eric has earned the support and confidence of the senior leadership team based upon his performance over the past several years. As President of Missouri Operations, Mr. Showalter led the organization through a substantial restructuring and drove the implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement through broad based employee involvement. Mr. Showalter is pro-actively engaged with his key customers and is technically competent in die cast operations. For these reasons we believe Eric is clearly the best choice to lead the new combined organization."

Showalter has over 14 years experience in the manufacturing sector. He joined Intermet as Director of Engineering when Intermet acquired Ganton Technologies/Diemakers in February 2000. Prior to joining Intermet, Eric held leadership positions at J.L. French and operations positions at Rockwell International. He also has international operations experience in Japan and China. Showalter has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Bradley University and a master's degree in business administration from the Stephen M Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan.
