NAVTEQ Announces Full Coverage Maps for Key Eastern/Central Europe Countries

Map of Road Network Now Available from Poland to Slovenia

CHICAGO, June 19 -- NAVTEQ , a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has announced availability of full coverage maps for Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Slovenia, providing a road network map from the Baltic Sea in the North, southwest to the Adriatic Sea. These countries represent some of the fastest growing economies in the region with a combined population of over 67 million. With full coverage maps for these five countries, drivers will have access to over one million kilometers of road network.

Thirty-seven city areas are covered at NAVTEQ's highest coverage level called Detailed Coverage. A cornerstone to NAVTEQ's accuracy, this means that all the roads in the area are included in the data set and that all the attributes associated with the road have been verified by geographic analysts. The Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia datasets contain all navigable roads.

"Our research indicates strong consumer interest in navigation systems for these countries, with the majority of those responding expressing interest in a multi-country map that could be used for holiday travel," stated Mary Hardwick, Vice President of Product Management for Europe, Middle East and Africa. "Concentrating our build plans in areas that provide the highest opportunity for economic growth also enables our customers to commit resources to applications with direct consumer benefit outside of navigation such as fleet management systems that can improve customer service."

NAVTEQ has broad coverage in Central and Eastern Europe with road network maps for Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
