NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Sunday from Atco Raceway

RACING CONCLUDES AT ATCO RACEWAY

 

            ATCO, N.J.. -   Racing is complete at the Franklin Trailers,
Inc. NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series held this weekend at Atco
Raceway.  Comp Eliminator pilot Frank Aragona and Super Stock driver
David Barton clinched victories and earned crucial points towards
divisional and national championships.

            Old Bridge, N.J, resident Frank Aragona finished Sunday's
eliminations defeating Stephan Szupka of Willow Grove, Pa.  Szupka
fouled at the start allowing Aragona to take the race with a pass of
19.815 seconds.

            The Super Stock category was narrowed down to Barton of
Robesonia, Pa., and Jim Harrington of Chapel Hill, N.C., in the final.
Barton took the win with a final pass of 9.095 seconds at 148.72 mph
while Harrington ended the day with a time 9.638 seconds at 137.00 mph.

            Joe Demarzo of Mahopac, N.Y., driving a '70 Nova made it to
the winner's circle in Stock Eliminator.  Demarzo defeated Katie Sepanek
of Moosic, Pa., with a time of 10.461 seconds at 122.95 mph.  David Long
of Wallingford, Pa., also took home a trophy in Super Comp with a
victory over Ronnie Siani of Islip, N.Y.  

            Super Street racer Ray Fordyce III of Williamstown, N.J.,
driving a '87 Camaro ran a time of 10.882 seconds at 134.95 mph beating
another New Jersey driver Martin Ganjoin Jr. from the city of Brick.
Also victorious was Super Gas driver Derek Clark of Maugansville, Md.
Clark ran a time of   9.918 seconds at 148.97 mph defeating Ed Alessi
Sr. of Howard Beach, N.Y., who ran 9.914 seconds at 149.45 mph.

            In Saturday's action, Top Alcohol Dragster pilot and
Wilmington, Del., resident Ken Winward grabbed the win while David Ray
of Plaistow, N.H., finished on top in Top Alcohol Funny Car.

            The next stop for Northeast Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing
Series racers is Lebanon Valley Dragway in West Lebanon, N.Y.  For more
