LE MANS 24 HOURS GETS UNDERWAY FOR TEAM BRUICHLADDICH RADICAL
24 Heures du Mans has started! All three Team Bruichladdich Radical drivers have driven in the
two qualifying sessions held this evening completing their compulsory three laps in the dark. The
four hours of track time were curtailed by a lengthy red flag halting proceedings in the first session
following a major accident for the only Lamborghini entered for the race. Stuart got in a good time
while completing installation laps before Tim took his turn. Following the red flag Robin struggled
with the conditions which by then was part wet and part dry.
Session two, running into the dark, was stopped for another red flag but this time only for a few
minutes this time. Tim spent some time getting more experience in the dark before handing back to
Robin. As the track was drying the times were improving at the wheel but it was only in the last few
minutes that conditions were near enough to try to improve on Stuart's time from his very early laps
in session one. Traffic proved to be the issue but the time was good enough to improve to fourth in
the LMP2 class.
The week started for Team Bruichladdich Radical with the technical checks and autograph signing
in Le Mans city centre yesterday. The car passed scrutineering with flying colours. Tomorrow sees
the second half of qualifying with another four hours but with the weather looking questionable it is
possible that tonight's times could set the grid for Saturday's race.
Tim Greaves, team owner and driver
"In the scheme of things qualifying is a little academic for a 24 hour race but it's a matter of pride to
do well. I was getting comfortable with the dark and we're making good progress getting the team
and drivers into the swing of things for the weekend ahead."
