Dietrich Metal Framing Supports Largest Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Project to Date
COLUMBUS, Ohio--Dietrich Metal Framing, a Worthington Industries Company , is supplying metal wall and floor framing materials for the construction of a home and a community center for a deserving family in Hawaii as part of the hit TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
The construction site in Kalihi, Hawaii, is the show’s largest build to date and will be the focus of the show’s 100th episode, which will air as the fall season premiere in September. There are two 6,000-square foot structures being built, one will be the Akana family’s new residence and the other will be a community center. More than 70 percent of the houses in Hawaii are framed in steel because it is impervious to termites, does not promote the growth of mold or mildew, and is non-combustible.
Brookfield Homes Hawaii asked Dietrich to participate in the project. Dietrich customer Coastal Construction is providing the crews to panelize and install the metal framing.
“We provide steel framing for hundreds of homes in Hawaii, but this project is a special one for us,” said John P. McConnell, Chairman and CEO of Worthington Industries. “We are pleased to be partnering with Coastal Construction and Brookfield Homes Hawaii to provide the Akana family with a new home and the community with a new activity center.”
Dietrich’s donation includes traditional metal wall framing, header material and TradeReady® Floor Systems which include TradeReady® Joists and TradeReady® Rim Joists.
Dietrich Metal Framing, the nation’s leading manufacturer of light gauge framing, offers the largest selection of cold-formed steel framing, including drywall and structural metal stud framing, contour flexible track framing, floor joists, roof trusses, metal lath and a variety of fire-rated assemblies.
