Jason White Looks To Make Some Noise In Motor City
Jason White Looks To Make Some Noise In Motor City
“Hooter’s Energy Drink Team Looking For Their Own Energy Saturday??
BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 13, 2007) - - NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS)
rookie Jason White heads to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) looking to
pull his recent string of solid finishes even further and notching his first
top-15 finish of the season in Saturday’s Michigan 200.
Since taking over the No. 7 Hooters Energy Drink Chevrolet Silverado at
Pennington Motorsports, White has brought a new wave of energy and enthusiasm to
the new team. His determination and hard work has the team thinking high
hopes for this weekend.
“I’m happy to be here at Pennington Motorsports,?? said White. “Since our
first race together at Kansas Speedway, we’ve really stepped it up. We’ve
brought a new chief Barry Dodson aboard and he has been the extra influence this
team has been searching for. The results are starting to show on the track
and that was our biggest goal when he came on board.??
Despite no prior NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts at MIS, White is
relying on his past Irish Hills NASCAR Busch Series success to steer his North
Carolina based team to their best finish of the season so far.
“Michigan is a great venue for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,?? he
explained. “There is so much racing room there; it makes for an exciting race. I’
ve haven’t raced at the track in a couple years, but you don’t forget how to
drive a track like MIS. I’ve got a baseline setup for what I want and Barry
knows what works and what doesn’t there. We’ll put our two heads together
and I think we’ll come out with a great finish.??
Not guaranteed a starting spot in the anticipated 36-truck starting field on
Saturday, White will have to beat one of his fellow competitors not locked
into the race to make his 17th NCTS start this weekend.
“When the pressure has been on, we’ve been able to achieve success. I don’t
have any worries about not making the race this weekend. Pro Motor
Engineering (pme) has been supplying us great horsepower all year long and with MIS
being a track where you need a lot of steam under the hood, I don’t have any
worries. We’ll use the practice sessions to the best of our ability this
weekend and look to start our Motor City weekend off on the right foot.??
2007 marked the first time since 2003 that the Virginia native hoped inside
a NCTS truck and he is not regretting it. “These trucks are a lot of fun. You
hear all the time that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is the best form of
racing right now in NASCAR and that’s a pretty valid statement. I’m glad to
be back truck racing. I’m looking forward to the rest of the 2007 season.??
