Budget Launches New Road Trip Blog; Travelers Can Share Stories, Get Travel Tips and Enter to Win Daily Prizes
PARSIPPANY, N.J., June 12 -- Budget Rent A Car System, Inc., the first rental car company to offers its customers a travel web log (aka "blog"), today unveiled its new road-trip-themed blog to provide travelers with an online forum to share road trip stories, receive free travel ideas and tips, find great money-saving deals, and enter to win a variety of prizes being awarded daily.
The travel blog, called "Up Your Budget," now in its third year with an all-new theme and prizes, is located at http://www.upyourbudget.com/, and features daily contests where visitors can win prizes including coupons towards Budget car and truck rentals, and gift certificates for Dunkin' Donuts, Baskin-Robbins or Perkins Restaurants.
Each week, Monday through Thursday through August 2, 2007, Budget will award prizes to visitors who have registered on the site. To win a prize, contestants visit the site, click on "the Glovebox," fill in their response to a survey question and their login information and click on "Enter to win." The first ten contestants each day to enter the contest will be awarded the prizes.
"We're seeing a huge spike in visitor traffic every morning at 11:00," said Becky Alseth, senior vice president of marketing for Avis Budget Group, parent of Budget. "We have a lot of loyal bloggers who have been participating in our annual Budget blog contests each year, who are very savvy about figuring out how to win and take advantage of the great deals and savings that Budget offers."
Visitors to the "Up Your Budget" site also benefit from travel tips, including how to get to and around popular tourist destinations, sights to see, places to eat and routes to drive. These tips are provided by prominent travel writers such as: Rebecca Ascher-Walsh, a freelance journalist who covers travel, entertainment and lifestyle; Thom Cardwell, a travel, food, fashion, arts and entertainment writer for 25 years who has been featured in newspapers and magazine across the country; and Mark Sceurman and Mark Moran, the founders and publishers of "Weird U.S.," a travel guide to unique and mysterious places not often found on state maps or tourist guidebooks. Readers can also join in on the fun by posting comments and creating a dialogue with other participants.
"Budget renters are savvy shoppers who appreciate great value," said Alseth. "We're proud to once again provide a home for our online community where they can share their latest road trip stories, recommend places to see, and obtain great deals from Budget and our partners."
