A Consistent WJ Will Start 13th in Joliet

Event: 10th Annual Torco Racing Fuel Nationals

Day/Date: Saturday, June 9, 2007

Location: Route 66 Raceway, Joliet, IL

Although the records will show that Warren Johnson's 6.654-second,
207.50 mph pass from Friday evening was his run of record and earned the
GM Performance Parts GTO Racing team the 13th starting position for
Sunday's final eliminations of the Torco Racing Fuels Nationals in
Joliet, IL, his performance from Saturday may be a better indicator of
his chances for race day. Battling higher temperatures and a hot, slick
racetrack, The Professor made two strong, straight runs in the
6.6-second range as the team fine tuned their set up for race day.

"We were pretty confident our time from the night session on Friday
wouldn't get bumped out, so we used today's runs to try a couple things.
Despite the slightly higher temperatures, the starting line wasn't too
bad, today but the middle of the track started to get extremely loose
due to the numerous oil downs in the fuel classes.

"What we used this morning didn't show much promise, so we went back to
our normal tune-up for these conditions with a few small modifications,
and it ran pretty well. Overall, we made four runs with the fastest to
the slowest being separated by only about two hundredths of a second,
with our last run on Saturday afternoon being pretty decent, so we'll
just keep beating and banging on this GM Performance Parts GTO, knowing
that sooner or later, it will come to its senses."
