Qualifying:

Session 1 Friday: 4.566 seconds at 323.81 mph (#4)

Session 2 Friday: 4.514 seconds at 328.70 mph (#7)

Session 3 Saturday: 8.496 seconds at 83.53 mph (#7)

Session 4 Saturday: 4.796 seconds at 299.93 mph (#7)

 

 

Hillary Will in top half of field for eliminations tomorrow

 

JOLIET, Ill. (June 9, 2007) – Hillary Will, driver of the KB Racing
LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster, finished in the
top half of the field when she qualified No. 7 at the 10th annual NHRA Torco
Racing Fuels Route 66 Nationals being held at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet,
Ill.

 

Will’s best times came on Friday when she recorded a pass of 4.566 seconds
in the first qualifying session, improving to a 4.514 second in the evening
session, the best of her four runs,

 

“We were consistent on Friday and that give us something positive to build
on for eliminations tomorrow,” said Will, after two long days of qualifying.
“It’s the highest we’ve qualified this season and it is good to see a smile
on the team’s faces.  This gives us confidence as we move to elimination.
We are overdue for a win and going rounds will go along way to moving us up
in points.”

 

When eliminations get underway at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Will pulls the KB Racing
LLC dragster to the starting Line against No. 10 qualifier, Melanie Troxel.
Troxel recorded a pass of 4.540 seconds to secure her position.  

 

ELIMINATIONS: Final eliminations for the Torco Racing Fuels Route 66
Nationals begin for all teams at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 10. Eliminations
time for the 10th annual NHRA Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 Nationals is local
Chicago/Joliet time (CT) and subject to change.

 

TELEVISION: ESPN2 / ESPN2 HD will air same-day coverage of eliminations on
tomorrow (June 10) from 4-7 p.m.  The elimination show repeats early
Wednesday morning, June 13, from 4-6 a.m.  Also, be sure to tune into NHRA
Race Day, the show which provides the drag racing fan with the latest
information about the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.  The Torco Racing
Fuels Route 66 Nationals installment of NHRA Race Day can be seen on Sunday
(June 10) on ESPN2 / ESPN2 HD from 11-11:30 a.m.  Television times are ET

KB RACING LLC is owned by Las Vegas businessmen Ken Black and his son Kenny
Black.  In the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, KB Racing LLC fields two
Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTOs, one driven by Greg Anderson,
a native of Duluth, Minn. who now lives in the Charlotte, N. C. area, and
the other by Jason Line, a native of Wright, Minn. who now lives in the
Charlotte, N. C. area, and a Top Fuel dragster, managed by Kalitta
Motorsports, and driven by Hillary Will, a native of Fortuna, Calif. who now
resides in Ypsilanti, Mich.  Anderson won three consecutive POWERade Pro
Stock Championships (2003-2005) and finished second in the point standings
in 2006. Line, who finished second in points in his rookie season in 2004
and third in 2005, is the reigning 2006 POWERade Pro Stock Champion.  Line
was honored with the 2004 Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the
Future Award, presented to the outstanding rookie in a professional
category.  Will finished No. 10 in her rookie season in Top Fuel in 2006 and
was nominated for the Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the
Future Award.  The Pro Stock shop of Anderson and Line is in Mooresville, N.
C. and the Kalitta Motorsports racing operation is in Ypsilanti, Mich.

 

KALITTA MOTORSPORTS (www.kalittaracing.com), owned by the legendary drag
racer and successful businessman Connie Kalitta, fields, in addition to
Will's Top Fuel dragster, three additional nitro fuel cars -- two Top Fuel
Dragsters and a Funny Car. -- in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.  Doug
Kalitta, Connie's nephew, drives the Mac Tools Top Fuel Dragster, Australian
Dave Grubnic handles the driving duties on the Zantrex-3 Top Fuel Dragster
and Scott Kalitta, Connie's son and Doug's cousin, is behind the wheel of
the DHL Funny Car.
