Jason Line faces Max Naylor in opening round
JOLIET, Ill. (June 9, 2007) – Jason Line, driver of the KB Racing LLC,
Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac, covered the Route 66 Raceway quarter-mile
in 6.650 seconds at 208.75 mph during the third qualifying session on
Saturday to earn the No. 9 position on the final qualifying ladder for 10th
annual NHRA Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 Nationals.
The run by the reigning NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champ came during the
running of the King Demon Crown and also counted as a qualifying pass. It
was the low elapsed time and top speed of the third session of qualifying.
Line also had the top speed in the final qualifying session.
“The car didn’t run the time we should have when we should have,” said Line
following qualifying today. “We missed the best chance at a high qualifying
position last night. We did rebound today running some good numbers in the
heat. I think we’ll be ready to give them a test tomorrow. I’ve done well
here in the past and hopefully that can carryover to the race tomorrow.”
Line will face the No. 8 qualifier, Max Naylor, in the opening round
tomorrow. Naylor ran a pass of 6.649 seconds in securing the eighth spot.
