Team co-owner to make major political announcement at race

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is heading west to the great state of Texas this weekend for the running of the Sam's Town 400. Tim Sauter and team will take the Lester Buildings Chevy Silverado to the fast one and a half mile track outside of Fort Worth, while one of Green Light Racing's team owners is ready to announce a run for US Congress at the track this weekend.

Tim Sauter has moved from 28th to 19th in the point standings over the last 4 weeks and is poised to move the Lester Buildings #07 further up the standings this weekend. "We need to keep finishing races and earning points. We've had three straight top-20 finishes, now its time to build on those finishes and turn top-20's into top-15's," Sauter said. "We're bringing the same truck we ran at Charlotte and at Dover. Our Silverado was pretty good at the end of the Charlotte race, so I'm hoping we can pick right up from there."

Tim will have a different teammate for the Sam's Town 400 where Eric Norris will pilot the #08 this weekend as Chad McCumbee will make his Nextel Cup debut in Pocono.

• The Sam's Town 400 will be Tim's 12th start in the NCTS and 125th career NASCAR start.

• This will be the fourth time Tim has competed at Texas Motor Speedway in a NASCAR event.

• Tim's best finish at the Texas Motor Speedway was 22nd on April 6th, 2002 in the NBS.

• Tim is currently 19th in NCTS driver points.

• Both truck owners; Bobby Dotter and Gene Christensen have previously competed in NCTS events at the Texas Motor Speedway.

• This will be the seventh season Green Light Racing has competed at Texas in the NCTS. Best finish; 9th on June 9th, 2006 with Chad McCumbee driving the #08.

• Green Light Racing co-owner Gene Christensen will announce his candidacy for US Congress at the event this weekend.

Tim's thoughts on the Texas Motor Speedway: "I haven't had the greatest success at Texas in the past, with the recent changes in the surface let's forget about the past history."

There are only 33 entries for the Sam's Town 400 which will be televised live on SPEED TV at 8:30 eastern on June 8th and also broadcast on MRN radio. Todd Bodine is the defending race winner.
