NASCAR racer Wallace eyes chief rival Capps in dirt race

ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 5) -- Colorful NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace is calling
out NHRA Funny Car points leader Ron Capps in advance of Wednesday's Nextel
"Prelude to the Dream" charity race at Eldora Speedway. Wallace says Capps
better get used to looking at the rear end of his JEGS.com late model stock car
because he plans on out-running the drag racing interloper.

"Somebody needs to remind Capps that I'm the inaugural winner of this race,"
Wallace said. "This is the third year of this deal and I won it the first
time through in 2005. We don't need to mention last year's race, other than the
fact Tony Stewart won it all, and he's another NASCAR guy. So us NASCAR guys
are 2-for-2 so far."

Wallace grimaced when he was reminded that Capps finished one spot ahead of
him at last year's "Prelude to the Dream," which invites stars from all forms
of motorsports to race around Eldora's half-mile clay track to raise money
for the Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Tony Stewart Foundation.

"Okay, we finished fourth and fifth last year and he may have been ahead of
me by an inch or two at the end," Wallace said. "But those days are over. No
more Mr. Nice Guy. I'm coming after him this year, and you'd better believe
I've got my eye on [Cruz] Pedregon too.

"Just where in the world did these drag racers learn how to drive on dirt?
Capps is pretty darn good, I hate to say it. And Pedregon owns a sprint car so
he knows how to get dirty too.

"Hey, it's gonna be fun and Tony (Stewart) told me it sold out in record
time. People can still watch it on HBO and I hope they're cheering for my
JEGS.com car. Jeg (Coughlin Jr.) and Woody (JEGS publicist Scott Woodruff) are
coming up to support me so we're going to try and get our second Prelude win. As
long as I'm ahead of Capps at the end, I'll be happy."

Wallace will tune up for the race Tuesday night in St. Louis when he drives
his St. Louis Cardinals/JEGS.com modified racecar. Wallace represents JEGS on
Speed TV and banners the company on several different racecars, including
his #78 Furniture Row Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR entry.
