"We at the American Le Mans Series would like to express our condolences to the France family and the entire NASCAR organization on the passing of Bill France Jr. His contributions to the motorsports world have been monumental. His strongest legacy will be the worldwide recognition for growing motorsports in general and NASCAR in particular into a global mainstream sport. Under Bill's leadership, motorsports went from a niche sport to a mainstream sport. For that we all owe him a debt of gratitude."
