Hillary Will starts from the No. 11 at Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 2, 2007) – Hillary Will returned to action at the 19th
running of the NHRA O’Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka (HPT)
and claimed the No. 11 starting position when she ran a 4.644 second elapsed
time at 313.22 mph in the final qualifying session.

Rain cut qualifying to three rounds when Mother Nature caused NHRA to cancel
the second and final qualifying session on Friday, but that didn’t hold Will
back. She improved in each of the other three rounds run in her KB Racing
LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster.

In the opening sessions on Friday, the California native, who now lives near
the Kalitta Motorsports shop in Ypsilanti, Mich., recorded a time of 4.889
seconds at 300.40 mph. During Saturday’s first session Will lowered her
time to 4.720 seconds at 306.88 mph and then dropped that lower in the final
qualifying session.

“We want to keep improving,” said Will after qualifying ended today. “We’ve
been off so long we’re ready to go. Our goal over these next ten races is
to get back in the top eight. It’s going to be a marathon, but we’re going
to try and sprint starting tomorrow. My Kalitta Motorsports teammate, Dave
Grubnic, got his first win here two years ago and then my other teammate,
Doug Kalitta, won here last year. So I think it our turn this year.”

Will starts on the road to that win when she faces off against Brandon
Bernstein in the opening round tomorrow. Bernstein qualified No. 6 with an
E.T of 4.591 seconds at a speed of 317.72 mph.
