Koni Challenge – Gué finishes 9th in Lime Rock

Koni Challenge – Gué finishes 9th in Lime Rock

The fifth round of the Koni Challenge season was held this past Memorial Day weekend in Lime Rock Park Connecticut. It was the normal race format of 2 hour 30 minute race on the short 1.53 mile road course. Gué was paired with regular co-driver Bret Seafuse in the #37 JBS Motorsport FR500C Ford Mustang.

Seafuse qualified the car in the 16th position out of a 36 car field, but by the 1 hour mark Seafuse was up to the 3rd position. However, a stop under green put Gué a lap down by the time he took over the driving duties. Gué rejoined the race in 14th place, and made a charge to the 9th position.

This was the 4th consecutive top 10 finish for Gué and Seafuse. The current Koni Challenge points standings are: Foster - 136, Thornton/Segal - 123, Nastasi - 123, Gué /Seafuse - 122 after 5 of 12 rounds.

Gué commented: “We had a great car, we were consistently one of the fastest Mustang throughout the race. We just made a gamble with our pit strategy and couldn’t catch a break, which meant we went a lap down in the middle of the race. Overall I’m disappointed with the result, but we still managed to get decent points. The whole JBS crew did a great job as usual and gave us a great car.”

The race from Lime Rock will be televised on the Speed Channel, June 10th at 3pm est.
The next race for the Koni Challenge will be at Mosport International Raceway, in Ontario, Canada, June 15th-17th.
