GRAND AM (DAYTONA) - 2007 Rolex Sports Car Series Champions Will Be Honored
Grand-Am officials announced today that for the third time in the past four years, Las Vegas will once again be the host city for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve Champions Banquet, which will be held on Monday, September 17 at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino.
The Rolex Champions Banquet comes two days following the season-ending SunChaser 1000-kilometer event at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah. The event marks a return engagement in Las Vegas as the 2006 Rolex Champions Banquet was held two days after the Salt Lake City finale at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Hotel. The first Rolex Champions Banquet held in Las Vegas was at Caesar’s Palace in 2004.
“As evidenced by the wonderful turnout we’ve had for our previous two banquets in Las Vegas, the city is a popular destination for the entire Rolex Series community, and we are pleased to return for another Champions Banquet in 2007,” said Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson. “The Venetian is one of the most elegant resorts in Las Vegas and will provide the perfect backdrop for us to honor our champions and pay tribute to another outstanding season of Rolex Series competition.”
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception and will be followed by a sit-down dinner and awards program which will honor the top drivers, teams and manufacturers in the Daytona Prototype and GT classes. Information on times, tickets, hotel reservations and further details will be available in the coming weeks. As was the case in 2006, fans will also be invited to purchase tickets for the event.
