Esurance and Live Earth Announce U.S. Partnership
LOS ANGELES--Esurance, the direct-to-consumer personal auto insurance company, and Live Earth today announced a United States partnership in the campaign to combat global warming. The national partnership will enable Esurance to join Live Earth on July 7, 2007 in inspiring over two billion people worldwide to take simple steps to lead a more energy efficient lifestyle.
The Live Earth partnership is the latest extension of Esurance’s efforts to conserve energy and preserve the planet’s precious resources. As a result of various ongoing “green” initiatives, including a completely paperless online experience, Esurance continues to make a positive impact on the environment and the fight against global warming. For more than seven years, Esurance policyholders have helped save thousands of trees by buying their auto insurance online and using electronic documents. In addition, Esurance augments its policyholders' contributions by planting thousands of trees across the U.S.
"As an auto insurance company, safety is always our main concern,” said Gary Tolman, president and chief executive officer, Esurance. “Our Live Earth sponsorship reinforces our commitment to the safety of the environment and will be an exciting catalyst to a much larger awareness effort. By discussing the role automobiles play in the context of climate change, we hope to increase awareness and ultimately provide solutions to a global problem."
“Live Earth is about engaging a global audience with solutions to the climate crisis, and we are delighted that Esurance has joined us in this effort,” said Kevin Wall, founder and producer of Live Earth. “Esurance is a valuable partner for us in providing simple everyday solutions for improving sustainability.”
To celebrate their growing partnership, Esurance and Live Earth have teamed up to equip traveling consumers with several “green” driving tips for safely considering the environment while on the road this summer.
- Stop the engine – Sitting idle for just 10 seconds uses more gas and produces more CO2 emissions than simply turning the engine off and then on again.
- Check the tire pressure – Pump up and pump less. Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage enough to earn a free tank of gas every year!
- Share your ride – The average commuter burns 340 gallons of gas and burns a 3.4 ton cloud of CO2 a year. Carpool and cut that figure in half.
- Make the shift – Hybrids get roughly 10 to 20 more miles per gallon than their conventional brothers and put gas money back into your pocket. If possible, switch to a Hybrid.
