American Tire Distributors to Expand Service Across Colorado
CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 31, 2007 -- American Tire Distributors Inc. ("American Tire Distributors") announced today that it has reached an agreement to acquire Jim Paris Tire City of Montebello Inc. ("Jim Paris Tire"). This will expand American Tire Distributors' service across the entire state of Colorado.
Jim Paris Tire operated two wholesale distribution centers and two retail stores. American Tire Distributors' purchase does not include the retail stores. The acquired distribution centers are located in Denver, Colo., and Grand Junction, Colo., and currently service approximately 1,500 customers.
"Jim Paris Tire is a premier tire distributor in its geographic area. They have built a solid business based on strong management, efficient operations, and, most importantly, an unwavering commitment to customer service," said Richard P. "Dick" Johnson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Tire Distributors. "The Jim Paris Tire operation, including its strong team of people, will be an excellent complement to our current distribution center network in the Intermountain West," Mr. Johnson added.
Jim Paris Tire was founded by James M. Paris in the early 1960s in Longmont, Colo. At its inception, the company was primarily a retail operation and ran as such until the 1970s. Gradually, the business shifted away from retail and towards wholesale distribution. James T. Paris, the founder's son, took primary ownership in 1979 and was the majority shareholder until his death in 2006.
