“Stott Classic Racing Aims For Rewarding Finish In Third Consecutive Race??
NEWTON, Iowa (May 29, 2007) - - On the stretch of two consecutive runs
inside the top-20 at Kentucky Speedway and Toledo Speedway, rookie driver Billy
Tanner looks to the recently built Iowa Speedway for his first top-10
performance in only his fourth ARCA start Saturday night.
Two weeks ago at Toledo Speedway, Tanner aboard Corrie Stott’s No. 07
_CheapCaribbean.com_ (http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/) Pontiac Grand Prix overcame
engine gremlins during the 200-lap event to score a 19th place finish. With
his first short track race complete, the Pennsylvania driver is ready for a
second round of some hard door banging under the lights.
“Toledo was a lot of fun despite our engine woes,?? he recalled. “We weren’
t all sure what to expect in our first short track race, but we practiced
well, qualified and finished the race. This is a year of learning for us. We
learned a lot. We plan to learn this weekend, but we want to race and learn at
Iowa Speedway.??
Rolling into Iowa, Tanner is in the third of 12 races with SCR (Stott
Classic Racing) and sponsor _CheapCaribbean.com_ (http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/)
as the group is using this season as track time to prepare for a full season
run in 2008.
“We tested at Michigan International Speedway on Tuesday, we’re racing this
weekend and then heading to Pocono next weekend, so we’ve been busy. But
this is what we have to do to prepare ourselves for the future. As a team, we’re
growing. I’m happy with the way things are progressing and I’m looking
forward to potentially claiming our first top-10 finish on Saturday night,??
Tanner noted.
He continued, “I’ve heard a lot about Iowa. Looks like it will be a fun
race. I’ve never raced under the lights in a short track event in the ARS, so I’
m definitely looking forward to that. I have a feeling it’s going to be a
lot more exciting than Kentucky was.??
Crew chief and car owner Corrie Stott is equally pleased with Tanner’s
performance and feedback heading into the ninth race of the season.
“Billy has been a pleasure to work with. He wants to race hard and finish
well. We know we may not have all the right ingredients to win every week, but
we’re giving it a shot. Each time Billy gets in a car, he is improving. He is
gelling with the team really well and I couldn’t be happier about the
direction this team is heading.??
The team will return to the Chevrolet bowtie for the fifth short track race
of the season.
The Prairie Meadows 250 (200 laps/168 miles) is the ninth of 23 events on

(11:30am-1:30pm Local Time) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated
