ALMS (UTAH) - 2007 KLEIN TOOLS PIT CREW CHALLENGE KICKS OFF

Dyson Racing is one of eight American Le Mans Series teams that will compete in the Klein Tools Pit Crew Challenge on Saturday. After two very successful and exciting years of competition, the 2007 Klein Tools Pit Crew Challenge will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18 at Miller Motorsports Park as part of the American Le Mans Series' Utah Grand Prix. The event in Salt Lake City is the first of four rounds scheduled at Series venues; Lime Rock Park, Detroit and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca are the others. Klein Tools is contributing a total purse of $100,000 over the course of the four rounds. Each winner in the preliminary and semifinal rounds will receive $10,000 and the team that finishes first at the finale in Monterey will receive a check for $20,000. "It is good to see the Klein Tools Pit Crew Challenge back for a third year," said Randall Kelsey, team manager for Dyson Racing. "It is an opportunity for the teams to showcase their pit stop expertise and the teamwork that makes for a good stop. It gives the fans a special chance to see the action up close, and our guys look forward to it as both a fun and focused competitive event. And the $20,000 to the winning team at the end of the year is always a nice motivator!" The Klein Tools Pit Crew Challenge will consist of a driver change, changing four tires and simulated refueling. There will be penalty rules in place for infractions as determined by IMSA and established pit stop competition policies. "It is always an honor to get to participate in the Klein Tools Pit Crew Challenge," said Dale White, Team Manager/Entrant, Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing. "It's something the whole team gets excited about and works really hard towards. Klein Tools has made a huge commitment to our Series and this competition really highlights that. What I like best about this is it puts the spotlight on the crew where it doesn't shine nearly enough. I know the drivers recognize that and put a lot of pressure on themselves to make sure they don't cost the crew in the competition."

The crew from Corvette Racing's No. 3 Corvette C6.R won the inaugural Klein Tools Pit Crew Challenge in 2005. It was the BMW Team PTG's No. 21 that took home the championship in 2006 after an action-packed finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The next round of the American Le Mans Series is the Utah Grand Prix, set for 5:05 p.m. MT on Saturday, May 19 from Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City. CBS Sports will air the race at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 20. MotorsTV in Europe, SPEED Latin America and 7TV in Russia also will provide international coverage.
