Trane Joins Clinton Climate Initiative
Trane offers high efficiency HVAC systems and solutions to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions with minimal capital costs
PISCATAWAY, N.J., May 16 -- The Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) announced today that Trane, a business of American Standard Companies , has joined its team of business partners committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from 40 of the world's largest and most progressive cities.
"Climate change is a global problem that requires local action," said Former President Bill Clinton. "The businesses, banks and cities partnering with my foundation are addressing the issue of global warming because it's the right thing to do, but also because it's good for their bottom line. They're going to save money, make money, create jobs and have a tremendous collective impact on climate change all at once. I'm proud of them for showing leadership on the critical issue of climate change and I thank them for their commitment to this new initiative."
As a partner in the program, Trane provides innovative, "self-funded" energy upgrades that deliver significant energy and operating cost reductions. A Trane energy upgrade takes a comprehensive approach to building energy use including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and services, lighting, roofing materials, renewable energy and other opportunities (sometimes called the building envelope) that result in energy savings of 10-50 percent.
"Our partnership is good for the environment and good for business," said Fred Poses, chairman and chief executive officer of American Standard Companies Inc. "It's exciting when you can do something that benefits everyone while addressing the most significant environmental issue of our time. Our employees around the world are looking forward to their role in supporting the Clinton Climate Initiative."
Trane will work closely with the CCI and its partner cities around the world as part of a joint agreement reached earlier this month. Trane has extensive experience in energy solutions projects and has provided similar energy savings solutions for customers in many countries around the world.
