Watch OpenRoad.TV - the American West in words, pictures,
and video!
Greetings,
I'm happy to announce, after many months of building, testing and tweaking, that http://OpenRoad.TV, The Traveler's Video Guide to the American West, is now live and ready for everyone to use. This new on-demand words, pictures, and video show grows out of Doug McConnell’s years of traveling and living throughout the West. The rich library of video and other content his team has amassed over the past fourteen years of producing the well-loved local television program, Bay Area Backroads, and our collective passion for this extraordinary region.
I’m the motorcycle travel forum moderator, and I hope you’ll contribute your insights about your rides here, or use the site as a travel planner for your trips. But don’t stop there — there are a whole bunch of other forums, writers, photographers, and videographers working on the site, and we all invite you to participate, too, whether it’s just to share or if you're a travel writer, photographer, or videographer who wants to build a body of work published on the web -- with a byline!
OpenRoad.TV has launched with about 70 video stories and related content in northern California, southern Nevada, southern Utah and northern Arizona. We’ll soon be including a batch of stories from all of the Hawaiian islands and more from California, Alaska,Wyoming, New Mexico and elsewhere in the West. We'll add new content of our own almost every day and hope that you will become a part of a growing community of fellow travelers that will contribute your own pictures, video and text to make the website a rich source of information about off-the-beaten track travel in the West.
I hope you'll take a look and pass the word...and contribute! It's a fun, informative site that's amazingly easy to use and view (can you say "video compression?"). The more you use it, the more we can widen, deepen and improve the site.
Thanks for your help, and don't hesitate to let us know what you genuinely think; what you like and what you don't, and what's working and what isn't. OpenRoad.TV will always be a work in progress and we look forward to benefiting from the wisdom, insight and advice of the community.
Best wishes, and happy travels.
