Ocean Tomo to Sell Potentially Life-Saving Automotive Technologies at 1 June Live IP Auction in London
CHICAGO--Ocean Tomo Auctions today announced the sale of three automotive technology lots at The IP Investment Summit & Live Auction 2007 (“IPILA 2007”) on 1 June at The Dorchester in London, England.
The patent offered in Lot 17 addresses the widespread concern for driver drowsiness that could potentially lead to accidents incurring expensive damage, injury, and/or casualty. The technology detects drowsiness in a driver by monitoring the eyelid activity through a sensor and electronic unit small enough for positioning within a rearview mirror. Using a video signal laser emitted by the sensor, it determines the successive durations of blinking episodes then compares each opening and closing of the eye to characteristics indicative of a person either awake or falling asleep. When time lapsed breaches a determined threshold, an audible alarm is sounded to warn of driver drowsiness.
Other automotive lots being offered at auction relate to sensory devices used for detecting rapid deceleration and the pitch and angle of a vehicle as well as provide warning when the vehicle inclination determines a potential rollover.
“Ocean Tomo is excited to offer these automotive-related technologies at our June Auction. They were chosen on a highly selective basis from hundreds of submissions,” said Andrew Ramer, President of Ocean Tomo Auctions. “We are proud to help bring these potentially life-saving inventions to market.”
Unique Acquisition Opportunity
Acquisition of these lots represents a unique opportunity for numerous industries including, but not limited to: Automobile Manufacturers, Transportation Systems Electronics and Components Suppliers, and Airplane and Aerospace Manufacturers.
