NHRA officials announced a long-term agreement with Nelson Hoyos’ driving school, Driven2Win Drag Racing School, as the official drag racing school of the NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series.
“Driven2Win Drag Racing School offers an in-depth comprehensive program to help educate sport compact competitors on the many facets of drag racing,” said Josh Peterson, general manager of the NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series. “Nelson’s experience in the sport of drag racing will allow students to learn from someone who has had success as a driver in the sport.”
Hoyos has driven in the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series since 2002. He has won the Pro FWD world championship twice (2003, 2004) and has won 12 races in his career. In 2007, Hoyos is looking to return to the track with a new Pro RWD car at the Las Vegas NHRA Sport Compact Nationals in July.
At each NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series stand-alone event, Hoyos gives the fans an opportunity to learn about the sport by holding informational drag racing classes.
“My goal is to help build Driven2Win Drag Racing School into a thriving business model supporting the sport compact racer,” said Hoyos. “It only seems natural for me to return to the driver’s seat to promote our racing business. I hope to become a mentor to sport compact racers and to set the example of how drive, determination and discipline can ultimately lead to success in business as well as the race track.”
