Marco Andretti Facts . Andretti finished ninth at the 2006 Kansas Lottery Indy 300, his first start at Kansas Speedway. . He finished 16th at the most-recent IndyCar Series event, the Indy Japan 300, after an accident ended his day early. . Andretti became the youngest driver (19 years, five months, 14 days) to win a major open-wheel race when he took the checkered flag at Infineon Raceway on August 27, 2006. . He finished seventh in the 2006 IndyCar Series driver championship and collected the IndyCar Series Bombardier Rookie of the Year award. . Andretti finished second at the 2006 Indianapolis 500 in what was the second-closest finish in the history of the event.
