ALMS (BOSTON) - Trans Sport Racing Committed To The Use Of Green Components

Team Trans Sport Racing (TSR) of the American Le Mans Series GT2 Class will be the world’s first motor sports carbon-neutral team. Through a new partnership with Renewable Choice Energy, TSR will purchase renewable energy credits that will foster the creation of profitable, clean energy projects. The team will purchase enough renewable energy credits (RECS) from Renewable Choice to offset 100% of the carbon dioxide emissions they will produce during the 2007 season. The purchase will offset 444,146 pounds of carbon dioxide, which represents the team's carbon footprint from racing, transportation of the team and equipment, as well as the electrical load at the shop. As the environmental impact that humanity has on the earth becomes more apparent, it is imperative that companies and individuals become stewards of their own carbon output. This new commitment from Trans Sport Racing is one more venture that evidences TSR founder and principal, Tim Pappas’ dedication to a cleaner and healthier environment. "We are proud to be the first racing team taking steps to offset our environmental impact, which in turn is helping to foster the growth in a new sector of profitable clean energy projects,” said Pappas. “Motor sports are supposed to lead the way in performance and safety evolution for the auto industry. I’m excited to have found a way to begin the process of reducing racing's impact on the environment. I hope that we will serve as an example not only to other teams and drivers but to the general public, proving that being environmentally responsible does not have to mean sacrificing speed or comfort.” Tim Pappas is also the CEO of Pappas Enterprises, one of Boston’s oldest real estate development companies. Pappas Enterprises places an emphasis on innovative design and is committed to achieving LEED certification, the United States Green Building Council’s rating system for green buildings, on all current and future projects. Pappas has pledged that all of his projects going forward will be green.
