RACING, SORT OF... (LONDON) - 2007 GUMBALL RALLY PREVIEW

Metacafe, one of the worlds largest video entertainment sites, is bringing the 2007 Gumball 3000 rally to fans desktops with the launch of the events first official online channel www.metacafe.com/gumball3000.

The video sites dedicated channel, which features sports brand adidas Originals as the exclusive advertiser, will follow the annual endurance event where an eclectic group of billionaires, athletes, film stars and members of the public drive and party for 3,000 miles over seven days and nights. Drivers set to participate in this years Gumball 3000 include actors Hayden Christensen and Jason Statham, Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay and musician Huey Morgan.

The rally starts in London on 29th April andfinishes in the capital city the following Saturday. During the seven days, participants will drive from London to Asia and back. Metacafes online channel will enable desk-bound Gumball 3000 fans and those who cant make it to the event to log on and take part in the rally. Gumball participants and attendees will be posting video clips of their experiences en route.

The Gumball 3000 brings together some of the world's most outrageous characters, and for the first time, anyone anywhere can watch and participate in the Gumball 3000 experience, said Metacafe CEO Erick Hachenburg. Together, Gumball 3000 and Metacafe are delivering the excitement of the rally to a huge global audience of more than 24 million monthly visitors."

As well as watching a regular stream of video clips of the Gumball event, Metacafe is also giving those who log on the chance to participate in the Gumball 3000 Video Contest from their computers. Any video creator can submit a video inspired by the Gumball 3000, and the first 50 clips posted online each day will win Gumball sweatbands. The top three videos submitted by 22nd May will win official adidas Originals merchandise and tickets to next years Gumball 3000 launch party.

Every video submitted is also eligible for cash payment through Metacafes Producer Rewards programme. Through this programme, creators are paid £2.50 for every 1,000 views of their video clips on Metacafe.com in exchange for the non-exclusive rights to distribute their work on any platform. Videos on Metacafe begin earning money once they exceed 20,000 views and a 3 or higherscore on the 1-5 rating scale.
