Whizzgo Expands Its Citroën Fleet For Innovative New Camden Plans
LONDON - April 24, 2007: Citroën C8 large MPVs and Berlingo Multispace mini-MPVs are now being specified for the very first time by WhizzGo, one of the UK’s foremost car club operators. These versatile new vehicles are being joined by a number of C3 superminis and Xsara Picasso compact MPVs as WhizzGo expands its all-Citroën fleet to cater for the introduction of two new innovative schemes in its London Borough of Camden operation.
As a result of the two new projects, which WhizzGo proposed to Camden Council, the company is planning to have over 100 Citroën cars based in the borough, a figure that will double the Company’s London-based Citroën fleet to around 200 vehicles.
WhizzGo's first initiative in Camden sees the provision of a multiple-bay, the first of its type in the UK, located next to Euston Station. Here, a choice of C3, Berlingo Multispace, Xsara Picasso and C8 cars are offered. Secondly, WhizzGo has also opened two new locations in Regent’s Park and Chalk Farm to benefit residents, in particular Camden’s council tenants who now get a discount in WhizzGo membership costs, as well as local businesses.
Since its founding in 2004 WhizzGo has been a solus Citroën operator as a result of the manufacturer’s exemplary ‘green’ credentials. Today WhizzGo operates car club schemes in three London boroughs, with more set to go on stream in the near future. Nationally the company has car club schemes in Leeds, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Southampton, York, Newcastle, Sheffield and Brighton & Hove – again with other towns and cities soon to be added to the list. The bulk of its fleet are C3s, including Stop & Start models, with an increasing number of Xsara Picasso, Berlingo Multispace and C8 MPVs being added.
Charlotte Morton, WhizzGo’s managing director, explains, “WhizzGo and its car club members have strong environmental concerns, as do a growing number of UK towns and cities. We have found that Citroën takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously, with low CO2, fuel efficient HDi diesels, which can also be run on up to 30 per cent bio diesel, innovative Stop & Start technology and, in London, professionally converted LPG-fuelled cars. Citroën’s car range also offers the wide choice of models that our members require – and all have high standard levels of comfort and safety equipment.”
WhizzGo is committed to providing affordable and convenient transport solutions for people living in urban areas. For journeys that cannot easily be undertaken by rail, bus, bike or on foot, WhizzGo car club members can hire a Citroën C3 for no more than £4.95 per hour. This price includes fuel, fully comprehensive insurance, 30 free miles a day and 24 hour breakdown assistance, without any of the hassle of urban car ownership.
