Tony Kanaan Facts * Kanaan has collected a pair of top-five finishes in the first two races of the season; a fifth-place result at Homestead and a third-place finish at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. * This will be Kanaan's 10th career start at Motegi. He has finished in the top six on six occasions with a career best of second coming in 2004. He finished third at Motegi in 2006. * Along with teammates Bryan Herta and Dario Franchitti, Kanaan drove to a win at the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 17. The trio collected the LMP2 class victory in AGR's first ALMS start. * Kanaan finished sixth in the 2006 IndyCar Series driver championship after finishing second in 2005 and winning the championship in 2004. * He captured the pole position at the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and is the first driver in history to lead laps in his first five starts in the Indianapolis 500 (2002-2006). * Kanaan has seven career IndyCar Series wins (6th all-time), has led 1,772 laps (4th all-time), has led 43 races (3rd all-time) and has 43 top-five finishes (3rd all-time). * Kanaan has seven career IndyCar Series wins (Phoenix 2003 and 2004, Texas 2004, Nashville 2004, Kansas 2005, Infineon 2005, Milwaukee 2006) and six IndyCar Series poles (Homestead 2003, Phoenix 2003, Pikes Peak 2003 and 2004, Michigan 2004, Indianapolis 2005).
