NHRA (LAS VEGAS) - Jason Line looks to get job done during eliminations
During qualifying for the SummitRacing.com NHRA National, reigning POWERade Pro Stock champion, Jason Line, struggled by KB Racing standards.
Line qualified his KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO No. 10 (6.767/204.63) and will face the Pontiac GTO of Warren Johnson, who qualified No. 7 (6.756/203.28).
Line has been to two final rounds in the four races contested thus far in 2007, winning at the last race in Houston. His round record is 9 wins and 3 losses, his best start ever after four races since turning pro in 2003.
While he still is looking for his first win at Vegas, the 37-year-old driver, who was born in Minnesota and now calls Mooresville, N. C. home, does have two final rounds at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Line finished runner-up both times, once to Richie Stevens in the fall race last year and in the fall of 2004 to his teammate.
"We really struggled and the No. 10 is what it is," said Line following qualifying. "We had trouble getting my Summit Racing Pontiac happy this weekend. It's been a challenge for sure. Fortunately, (teammate) Greg (Anderson) had a good final round and that should help us with our set up for tomorrow.
"One good thing about the Countdown to the Championship is that you can have a bad race in this segment and not hurt yourself too bad. But we haven't given up on eliminations tomorrow and can still go out there and get the job done."
