Alton, VA (April 9, 2007) - Team KMA Drivers Julia Landauer, Jeffrey Petriello and Mike Hill took to the track this weekend at the second Official test for the 2007 Formula BMW USA Championship.
Jeffrey Petriello posted the fastest time of the second session during the final day and finished 4th fastest overall for the two day test, while Julia Landauer posted the 4th quickest time of the final session of the second day and finished 8th fastest overall. Mike Hill missed almost all of the first day due to an engine failure and finished 15th fastest overall for the weekend.
"It was a successful test for our drivers who have never seen this track before this weekend," stated Jon Lewis, Team KMA co-owner. "We put a lot of miles on these cars this weekend, more than we would have liked and it was unfortunate that Mike's engine blew apart on the morning of the first day. These engines are pretty reliable and it was a surprise to everyone."
"The crew worked a tremendous amount of hours," Lewis continued. "We were the first one's at the track each day and the last to leave. But, we needed to get Mike out there on Sunday. Missing the first day at a new track put him behind a little, but he steadily gained speed throughout the day on Sunday. It sure wasn't representative of his ability and speed by any means."
Team KMA Racing's Indy Pro Series driver Robbie Pecorari was on hand to assist the Team's Formula BMW drivers. "It was very beneficial having Robbie at the track with us," said Team KMA's other co-owner Ingo Strackerjan. "Having someone of Robbie's talents and experience to guide our drivers will help us get them up to speed quicker, which is important in this Championship due to the limited amount of track time we have available at events."
Team KMA heads to Houston for the next Official Test session on April 21-22.
